Neuroinclusivity in housing means people of different neurotypes (i.e., Autistic and Neurodivergent people) are supported in finding, accessing, maintaining, and thriving in homes that meets their wants and needs<\/p>\n

Selon le droit international, un logement ad\u00e9quat est un logement qui offre un mode d\u2019occupation s\u00fbr, qui est abordable, qui est habitable, qui donne acc\u00e8s \u00e0 l\u2019infrastructure de base, qui est situ\u00e9 pr\u00e8s de l\u2019emploi, des services et des commodit\u00e9s, qui est accessible aux personnes de toutes capacit\u00e9s et qui est adapt\u00e9 sur le plan culturel. Depuis l\u2019adoption de la loi en 2019, la p\u00e9nurie de logements et la hausse des co\u00fbts ont intensifi\u00e9 les difficult\u00e9s dans le domaine du logement.<\/p>\n

Since these videos were created in November 2024, the Neuroinclusivity in Housing Initiative with the Accessibility Institute ended. You can learn more in the History<\/a> section at the top of this page.<\/p>\n

Even though the initiative has ended, the work of leveraging what we learned and the resources created has only just begun. Safe, stable, and neuroinclusive housing remains a critical priority for Autistic people across Canada. With the launch of the National Autism Network<\/a> \u2014driven by Autistic people and their families to inform Canada\u2019s Autism Strategy and shape a future where Autistic people thrive, our Neuroinclusivity in Housing work aims to inform the advancement of affordable, sound and suitable housing as prioritized in Canada’s Autism Strategy under Priority Area 2 – Economic Inclusion.<\/p>\n
